Stumbling on a Tale is a story about three children who travel back in time, twelve-year-old Henry Hawkins, his little brother Max and Peri their older stepsister.
Peri is fifteen-year-old, precocious, curious, and always ready to step into trouble. She's at the top of Henry’s list of things to worry about.
Stumbling on a Tale is the second book in the TIME TO TIME Series.
The children are again playing with a curious book that holds strange powers; this time trying to find out more about its author and publisher. When Max repeats the sequence of events that led to their first time-traveling history adventure, disaster once again strikes, he picked up once again an object from a box of artifacts. This time they're not in 1900s New York City, but find themselves lost in the Middle Ages, dressed in Medieval clothing in the middle of a forest. They meet up with a teenage runaway, a pig farmer, page and a wizard in their quest to find the special object that will bring them back home.
I liked it straight from the beginning. It’s easy to read. It made me curious to know about the first book that I haven’t read but also what will happen next if they end up… in Paris?
It all is a mystery; they never know when they will leave nor where they end up or when they will return.
At the end of the book, you can get your hands on history. Try the nine puzzles, activities, and games based on the story. Make medieval gingerbread, and solve a riddle from the 10th century, plus more.
